It's been a busy few days. We've been back and forth between the townhouse and the Waterview house moving smaller loads of delicate items over. Christy has a very intense workload starting tonight and it will continue through the week. The major goal for this week is to get all the non-essentials over to the new place this week and to get the internet/phone/TV set up so that we can bring movers in next Sunday to move all the big stuff to the house next week. We'd really like to be fully into the house by next week so that we can focus on setting up housekeeping there and getting cleaning done here at the townhouse. Also on the agenda is getting heating and cooling set up in the converted garage that is becoming my office / studio. Since I can't really get both in a single unit without pay an arm and a leg, I am trying to determine which I set up first. I'm leaning towards heating, as the ceiling fan in the space should get me by for a couple more weeks until I can get a window unit.
I'm looking forward to getting a studio set up so I can get back to songwriting and prepping myself to do solo promotion on the CD if need be. But I have to admit, after two years of pushing to get the CD completed, it's nice to have a bit of a break. Once we get moved in, the music promo will get back to full speed, but a recharge is nice. I'm really hoping that Simple Man, Complex World (the working title for the next CD) will be a more streamlined process.
It's getting closer to where we need to prep the dogs for the move. Particularly with the huskies, moving is not a pleasant experience. Huskies are creatures of habit, and moving upsets them to the point that they get physically ill and stay that way for several days. We've found that about a few days before the heavy moving starts, we have to drug them to take the edge off. It helps a bit that Chester is stayinig with Jess for the time being as he, being younger than the huskies, tends to excite them even more. We will also be putting Clemmie down soon. She's really gone downhill in the past few days and it reassures us that this is indeed the time.
Overall, I'm kind of in a daze with the reality that we're moving into a house. It's been so long since we had a sizeable, grassy back yard of our own for the dogs to run in. It's been so long since we've had a patio to sit on and enjoy life. It's been so long since I've had a dedicated space where I can do my music stuff without interfering with Christy's work. I'm so ready to do this.
