Packing Up and Moving Out

The moving process is now officially underway.  Today, Christy was able to secure a cleaning service to do a deep cleaning of the Lake Highlands house prior to us moving in.  Fortunately, we were able to get same day service and I'm told the place looks fantastic.  This is good news, because it was covered in construction dust and dirt when we went over there on Tuesday, and my sinuses have been bugging me ever since.

Starting tomorrow, we will both begin to pack and move the fragiles and non-essentials over to the house.  In my case, I'll be taking a lot of the posters, photos, books, and the like, and staging them in my office space.  Christy is going to start packing the decorative accessories into boxes and prepping them for moving.  I suspect that as this is going to be the start of a new stage in our lives, there will be a lot thrown out or donated:  decor from the Ohio house that just won't fit into the style of Waterview house, books that we no longer want or need, CD's we will not listen to, furniture that will no longer fit.  While I hate the process, I will admit that there is something very cathartic about moving now and then, as it forces one to leave behind things not needed.  The goal is to either move as much of the fragile and non-essential items into Waterview over the next week or sell/donate/discard it.

Beginning a week from Sunday (3/4), we have movers that will take every large item that we absolutely do not need from the townhouse and from our storgage space and move that to Waterview.  The reason that we will not be moving EVERYTHING that date is that there are some essentials that need to be set up at Waterview that may not be by that date (Internet to run both offices, A/C for my office, extra keys, etc.)  However, should those things be set up in time, then we will most certainly move everything.  In any event, our goal is to have everything out of the townhouse before St. Patty's day so that we have a few days to clean and turn in our keys by 3/17.  While we don't have to be out of the townhouse in Carrollton until the end of March, the sooner we're out the better.  Once we're in the house, Christy can start seeing clients there, which increases our revenue stream and cuts down her need to travel as much.  It also places me closer to many of the venues I'd like to break into with TWP.  I also have to confess, the sooner I can get into my office and be able to resume practicing and songwriting without interfering with Christy's work, the better it will be for both of us.  With the CD done, I need to promote, which means playing out.  I can't always do that with the rest of TWP, which means I need to play solo shows.  Thus I need to work out being able to play my music on either keyboards or guitar.

Also on the agenda, unfortunately, is that sometime between now and 3/17, we have to put Clementine down.  It breaks my heart to have to do that, but it's necessary.  Our vet already confirmed this, and Clemmie has continued to go downhill since then; it seems like her kidneys are starting to fail now.  I realize that she's 105 in cat years and this is merciful, but I've never had to make the decision to put a pet down before and I really don't want to have to do this now.  It would be so much easier on Christy and I if she'd go to be with Jesus on her own.

With that, it's time to call it a night and get rested up for what is going to be a busy weekend.

Ciao!
